Design Process
The best way to start the design process is to arrange a consultation visit. We'll explore and chat about your garden, so I can get a good sense of the space and design brief before preparing an estimate. I’ll also talk you through the design process.
Stage 1 - Concept Design
The design work in this stage will include a site analysis visit and more detailed design brief discussion. I’ll prepare a scaled, rendered design drawing, mood board, and sketch view or axonometric drawing. It may be necessary to commission a topographical survey, depending on the size of the garden. I will research and select hard landscaping materials and key plants. I’ll visit to present the Stage 1 plans, and we’ll discuss and agree next steps in order to finalise the design.
Stage 2 - Master Plan & Planting Plan
I will draw up a master plan, construction drawings, elevations, sections, specifications, setting out plans, etc. as necessary. I’ll send a planting mood board for your feedback, and then draw up a planting plan and schedule. Lighting design can also be included at this stage. If desired, I can consult with and arrange visits from landscaping contractors to prepare estimates for the work.
Stage 3 - Construction & Planting
Stage 3 includes project monitoring during the build phase, site visits and consulting with contractors, supplying plants, setting out and arranging planting. I work with a number of different landscapers regularly, so would be happy to help with arranging and comparing estimates.
Stage 4 - After The Build
I always like to stay in touch with clients once a garden has been created, and enjoy seeing how your garden is developing. I can create a garden maintenance schedule tailored to your scheme to ensure your planting flourishes. I’m always happy to arrange consultation visits — one, two or a few years on from the completion of the build and planting — to review planting and provide advice.
